You will have read the “Bowls Cornwall Action Plan” (see below).and the statement distributed by Bowls England which is attached.
Clearly the news is not good but throughout this difficult and testing time we need to remain positive and hope that this virus is short lived.
Bowls is possibly the last thing on your mind, but as a committee we have met to discuss the impact this has on us as a Bowling Club and how it could affect our members.
Clearly the club still needs to be managed and maintained in order that we are ready for whatever lies ahead.
Although we remain on a sound financial footing the long term functioning of the club still depends very much on its members and ultimately their financial support.
The green will continue to be maintained, there are utility bills to pay and essential maintenance will continue, although at a slightly reduced level. Essential funding from club events and external booking functions has now ceased so we are entirely dependent on annual subscriptions and remaining club funds. Thank you to all members who have continued their commitment to the club and paid their annual subscription.
I would also ask that as a club we look out for each other. If there is any member who hasn’t got a relative or friend that can assist them with shopping etc, please feel free to contact me or Jenny and we will sort something out – there are numerous members who are all too willing to help you.
Stay safe and stay isolated, together we will beat this virus and hopefully we will be back bowling at the earliest opportunity.
